Terms & Conditions*
- I will procure a veterinary examination within one week and will provide verification of the vet visit to the rescue within 3 days. I will assume all costs for preventative care and illness of injury for this animal.
- I am accepting above described pet "as-is", with no warranty or guarantee what-so-ever. If the above described pet becomes ill, it is my sole responsibility to seek veterinary care at my own expense and I will hold harmless Riley Rescue, all of their owners and volunteers from any liability of medical or other expenses associated with the above described pet.
- If the animal is not already spayed or neutered, the Adopter agrees to have the procedure performed by a licensed veterinarian as soon as recommended by their veterinarian. Proof of the procedure must be provided via email within 10 days of the surgery. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in the termination of this adoption agreement.
- I understand that dogs and puppies from shelter/rescue environments often have parasites such as worms, coccidia and giardia. While all the animals under the rescue's care are routinely dewormed I understand that it is still possible that my pet could have parasites and I may need to treat them again. I understand that some parasites can be transmitted to people and that I will take the proper precautions for my family’s safety and the safety of those around me, for this I will hold harmless the rescue, their owners and volunteers.
- I agree to keep the pet as an indoor pet and to not leave him/her outside unattended for any duration, including overnight.
- Should the pet become ill within 5 days with a virus that results in the death of the pet, I understand that I MAY qualify for a full or partial refund. I understand that there are guidelines to this possible refund and that it is my responsibility to notify the rescue within 24 hours of the pet becoming ill.
- I understand that if I choose to seek medical care for a pet that I have adopted, I am financially responsible for whatever medical decisions I make on behalf of my dog and while I may be entitled to a full or partial refund of my adoption fee, I will not receive any additional compensation for my expenses.
- I understand that I should not take my pet around other dogs, to parks, pet stores, etc until I have been cleared to so by my veterinarian. This will usually not be until all my dogs shots have been completed.
- I agree to never take the pet to a kill shelter and that if I do, this will be a breach of contract. If I require assistance finding a suitable home for my pet, I will contact the rescue who will assist me in whatever way possible. I understand that depending on the situation it may not be possible for the rescue to take my dog back.
- I understand that I am being charged an adoption fee. I understand that this is a fee for a pet and cannot be written off on my income taxes.
- I agree that the above pet appears healthy upon the signing of this contract.
- I am aware that the adoption fee is not refundable.
