I've found my furever family!

Samantha

We're happy to tell you that Samantha has a new furever home.

Sammy is sweet as pie and would love to spend the holidays munching on some in her furever home! Samantha is a stunning 8.5 month old Great Pyrenees mix. She currently weighs between 65-70 pounds. She's up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She's not spayed yet and in heat (although it seems to be subsiding in recent days).

Sammy is extremely gentle and loving to her people - she doesn't want to leave your side, although she is learning it's okay to let people out of her eyesight. Sammy is on the nervous side and needs a patient family while she goes through these major life changes. She's smart and has learned basic commands in record time. She knows down, leave it, sit, stay, wait, let's go, back up, crate and we're working on paw. Although Sammy is tall, she's still a puppy after all and will happily jump up on the couch with you for snuggles. She's crate trained, but would prefer to sleep around her humans at night. She likes to play with toys on her own or just pal around with you outside in the yard. Sammy also walks very well on leash, although she may need encouragement along the way. She needs to be picked up and put in the car, but once in there, she's happy to feel the wind in her fur and behaves well. Sammy takes treats gently, waits patiently for dinner, hasn't nipped any of her humans at all (not even accidentally) and will all-around make a loving addition to the right family.

Sammy would do best as an only dog in a home. While Sammy loves to play with other dogs, she doesn't like to share her space with them as much. She could live in a home with another dog if her family is prepared to work with her through her food guarding behaviors. Sammy would need to be fed in a separate space from other dogs and need her food stored in a separate space as well (other dogs should only have access to area if supervised). No treats should be given in shared dog areas or around other dogs at home. All bones should be removed and only given to Sammy when in her crate. But with dedication and the right training, Sammy certainly would love to have a dog sibling to show her the ropes!
